The Signal: Committee to Recall Gascon Claims Step Toward Victory
L.A. County Superior Court Judge James Chalfant partially granted a preliminary injunction sought by the Committee to Support the Recall of DA George Gascon, which was seeking better access to county records in order to review signatures that had been rejected in its thus-far unsuccessful attempt at a recall election.

(Los Angeles, CA) – Today, Judge James C. Chalfant of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County granted the Recall DA George Gascon Committee’s ex parte application for an expedited hearing, which requires the applicant to demonstrate irreparable harm will take place if the order is not granted.

On Tuesday, the Recall DA George Gascon Committee filed a claim for injunctive relief against the Los Angeles County Registrar of Voters. The Recall Committee is seeking to remove arbitrary and capricious restrictions that have been placed on its review of invalidated signatures, so a full and meaningful review can be conducted in a timely manner. The ability to do so is critically important given the substantial problems identified with the count thus far.

After a second effort to bring his removal to voters fell short, Gascon’s opponents will take the L.A. County Registrar to court.
